Our commitment

Better systems. People still in charge.

Nimara helps nonprofits and charities bring AI into their everyday work. This page shows how we do it: the promise we make, the rules we keep, where we stand on the big questions, and what we will never do.

Our promise

We build systems your team can understand, use and run. When AI helps, a person stays in charge of the decisions.

The five rules we work by

01

AI only does the steps we write down.

A written policy says what it may do, what it must never touch, and when it must stop and ask a person.

02

Every workflow has a human gate.

One named person has the authority, the time and the duty to review it and stop it. Anything that leaves your organization goes through that person.

03

No scoring people.

AI never scores, ranks, flags or predicts a person. It files, matches and drafts.

04

Every step is logged, and there is an off switch.

Your team can see what the system did, switch the AI off, and do the work by hand.

05

You own the system.

Your tools, your data, your decisions. If Nimara steps away, the system keeps working.

We learned the term “human gate” from Natália Tôrres of The Curious Society.

Where we stand

You hear a lot of advice about nonprofits and AI. Here is where we agree, where we don’t, and why.

You’ll hear

“Adopt AI now or fall behind.”

We say

Your staff are probably already using AI. What’s missing is someone running it: written rules, a named owner and a way to check the work.

You’ll hear

“Pick an AI tool, then find uses for it.”

We say

AI is the last step, not the first. First we map the work, clean up the data and make sure the team uses the system. Then we automate. Then we add AI.

You’ll hear

“AI will save you hours right away.”

We say

It can, once the process is sound. AI makes a good process faster. It makes a messy one messier, faster.

You’ll hear

“AI is a tech decision. Leave it to IT.”

We say

Running AI is a leadership job. It belongs with your leaders and your board, not only with your tech person.

You’ll hear

“Just have a human check the AI’s work.”

We say

Yes, and name who. Not “someone reviews it.” One named person who can stop it.

You’ll hear

“Nobody needs to know you used AI.”

We say

If AI helped, say so. Donors and funders want to know. Every email we send says it.

You’ll hear

“AI will replace nonprofit staff.”

We say

We don’t build that. AI files, matches and drafts. A person decides and sends.

You’ll hear

“Staff who worry about AI are resisting change.”

We say

If your team is careful about AI, they’re right to be. We start with their questions.

You’ll hear

“Let AI sort clients by need or risk.”

We say

AI can sort paperwork. It never sorts people.

You’ll hear

“You just need a better CRM.”

We say

The problem is rarely one tool. It’s the gaps between your tools, and who owns them.

You’ll hear

“Let the consultant run it for you.”

We say

Nimara builds the system. Your team runs it.

You’ll hear

“Systems are overhead. Put every dollar into programs.”

We say

Good operations are what let the next grant land safely. That’s capacity, not overhead.

You’ll hear

“AI can write your grants now.”

We say

Drafting is getting easy. What still wins is proof you can show, in a voice that’s still yours.

You’ll hear

“Choose the partner that promises results.”

We say

We won’t promise funding, audit results or grant wins. We’ll tell you what we can’t promise, and show you what we can.

What we will never do

Put sensitive information about your clients, donors or staff into an AI model.
Build AI that scores, ranks or predicts a person, even as a pilot.
Set up a system that sends AI work outside your organization without a named person approving it.
Promise funding, compliance, audit or grant results.
Lock you in. The system, the data and the decisions stay yours.

See what this looks like in your organization.

We assess the problem before we quote. Tell us about your organization and we’ll contact you about the next step.
